What Were You Expecting?

Take away the guns,

and they’ll kill with a knife,

no regard for your laws,

no regard for your life.

It’s the world we created,

what did you expect,

when we rejected our God

through our willful neglect.

He promised to bless,

those who obeyed His good voice,

turning over to blindness,

sin followers by choice.

You tell me I’m lying,

why make such a claim?

I’ll give you the evidence,

state it plainly by name.

63 million abortions,

by the record so far,

a stat America owns,

no question, our scar.

Next comes marriage,

between a woman and man,

we rejected this too,

saying that anyone can.

In school we teach,

there is more than two genders,

shame and humilate,

any biblical defenders.

So where does that leave us,

in our quest for modern truth,

but confused and bewildered,

like an amateur slueth.

We craft a political solution,

to cover a political lie,

blaming guns and cold steel

for the way people die.

You can’t teach children,

to value human life,

when the example you show them

is chaos and strife.

Big Bang and random chance,

over God’s creation and order,

one more analogy of sorts,

on our Southern Border.

So next time you find yourself,

wondering why we are falling,

please consider the truth,

we’ve abandoned our calling.

“Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done.”Romans 1:28

Just a fellow traveler in this journey called life whose been all over the proverbial map. I was a Captain in the United States Army, an internet entrepreneur before it's time, an Actor, a Real Estate Agent, Social Worker, Executive Director of a non-profit, a Production Foreman, Team Leader, Technical Writer, Small Business Owner, and a Quality and Operations Manager. As a volunteer, I have taught, coached, written lesson plans, led small groups and mentored men as a part of Christian Ministry. I currently work with men as a lay counselor both in and out of jail. I am a guy who never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and quite frankly, still not really sure. I like to write stories, commentary, screenplays and a little poetry that I hope will make you think about more than what you’re wearing today, or whether your favorite team won the big game. My wife Jill and I have three adult children and two grandchildren. When I’m not working or enjoying my family, I find pleasure in the pursuit of writing thought provoking stories and poetry about the human drama.
