Free College, Free Health Care – Free Stuff!

The reality of free stuff that everyone subconsciously knows, but won’t admit when it comes to politics and election cycles is simply this – there’s no such thing as free! That’s it, it’s that simple, but simple minded people are duped by this argument every election cycle that comes around, but until this election, it was easier to brush off because the majority of Americans have rejected it.

Enter the masses of young inexperienced, blindly optimistic voters that unfortunately haven’t been seasoned by the realities of life beyond their burdensome college debt, and unmet expectations of not being able to find an initial entry position equal to the task of supporting this heavy load.

The other duped, low information voters are the ones that once again bought off on the Obama/Biden free healthcare idea that ended up on it’s first run costing most working Americans far more than what was promised for far less of a product than what they expected.

And the million dollar secret that keeps getting ignored is this…., everything has a cost! However.., slick, snake-oil salesmen politicians with a nice smile, sharp suit, and a hundred dollar haircut always have a way of convincing voters that it’s not going to cost them specifically, but someone else that has deeper pockets than them, and that it must have been obtained off the backs of hard working people like you, or through slave labor. Thus, these evil rich people deserve to have their pockets rifled through so ordinary hard working people like you can get free college and free health care.

Then, once elected, these same politicians on a Friday night, under the cover of a complicit media and a weekend entertainment cycle, pass the bombshell legislation that ends up surprising you when you eventually open your paycheck to notice, oops, there must be some mistake, you apparently are one of those getting your pockets picked by an ever expanding overweight government, that is even more in debt than you are. Turns out, you now have even less money to pay for your degree in far eastern philosophical thought studies than your job at Starbucks will pay for.

Why? Because free stuff apparently always costs far more than what they anticipated and mass produced volume always produces cheaper, less quality products. And the frustrating thing about this is that everyone should know it. How many times have we all experienced the free goody bag full of plastic junk trinkets and the paper thin t-shirt sown together in some Chinese slave labor sweat shop that lasts for a day or two until broken or worn out and ends up in a land fill. That’s the same value that your “free” education will hold when the democratic socialist are done with it.

But don’t worry, after your indoctrinated with their ridiculous philosophy you will forget all about it by next election cycle and vote for them all over again because they will promise to fix the mistake by raising the income level to just beyond what you are currently making so someone else will be paying for all of your valueless free stuff.

Sorry for the rant, but sometimes you just have to vent.

Nice going America!

Just a fellow traveler in this journey called life whose been all over the proverbial map. I was a Captain in the United States Army, an internet entrepreneur before it's time, an Actor, a Real Estate Agent, Social Worker, Executive Director of a non-profit, a Production Foreman, Team Leader, Technical Writer, Small Business Owner, and a Quality and Operations Manager. As a volunteer, I have taught, coached, written lesson plans, led small groups and mentored men as a part of Christian Ministry. I currently work with men as a lay counselor both in and out of jail. I am a guy who never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up and quite frankly, still not really sure. I like to write stories, commentary, screenplays and a little poetry that I hope will make you think about more than what you’re wearing today, or whether your favorite team won the big game. My wife Jill and I have three adult children and two grandchildren. When I’m not working or enjoying my family, I find pleasure in the pursuit of writing thought provoking stories and poetry about the human drama.
