Even though the election is still officially undecided, you can pretty much chalk it up as one more nail in the coffin, and a huge loss for America. Even if Trump somehow pulls off an electoral college victory, the fact remains that for the second election in a row, over fifty percent of Americans have chosen fear over courage, socialism over the free market, corruption over integrity, empty promises over actual results, shallow mediocrity over grand vision, and feel that the most socially and racially diverse country on the planet is racist, but most importantly, that the death of the defenseless unborn is nothing more than merely a protected woman’s choice.
The fear that Joe Biden and the media so easily sold to a willing majority of Americans was that 99% of a relatively safe population should hunker down in an endless lockdown to save 1% of our population that members of their own party so thoughtlessly disregarded by sending sick, infected, corona-virus patients into nursing homes which contributed to a majority of casualties in that vulnerable age group. Also, that fear of the corona virus was somehow more important than protecting a far greater majority of people who were vulnerable to domestic violence, suicide, poverty and hunger.
In 1918, our grandparents and great grandparents went off to fight in WWI during the Spanish Flu, one of the greatest pandemics in world history and the nation accepted the risk as the price to pay for freedom. But now, we allow our politicians to scare us into possibly electing officials who would willingly strip us of our freedoms for what can arguably be called a false sense of security over liberty to deal with this as each of us see fit.
Had this nanny state, bubble wrap, everyone get’s a trophy mentality existed during the early years of our nation, our forefathers would have never stood shoulder to shoulder and died to the man to defend the Alamo, never crossed the great plains of America to settle California, nor would we have sacrificed the thousands of youths on the shores of Normandy in WWII to liberate the suffering in Nazi occupied Europe.
That America, filled with selfless, courageous Americans, we can effectively declare either dead, or on extreme life support as we continue to choose options that further our status as pampered wards of the state rather than rugged individuals boldly paving our own way in this world and selflessly looking out for the needs of the less fortunate. No longer can we exist on the fumes of greatness our ancestors carved out of the wilderness with their bare hands for us.
Rather than look to the government for free college, free health care, free high speed internet, perhaps we should humbly fall to our knees and beg forgiveness to Almighty God. Perhaps it is not too late. For it was the prophet Jeremiah who on behalf of God warned ancient Israel….,
If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it. “Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.’
Benjamin Franklin once said: “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”
Surely, our enemies are circling patiently off the shores of this land, quietly salivating and licking their chops as we slip further and further into a Netflix, drug and entertainment induced coma, concerned about little more than our own safety, entertainment, comfort and what we can get from the government for free.
The America that rose to the pinnacle of world power and prestige was one founded on great courage, rugged individualism, self sacrifice and an unconquerable, unquenchable self determination guided by a great faith in an almighty God.
Extinguish that flame and you open the door to perhaps the greatest time of darkness the world has ever seen. God help us all!
